Tyresö Vokalensemble, from the beginning known as Tyresö Diskantkör, was founded in 1986 for those students in the local music school Tyresö Musikklasser who wanted to sing even more, outside of school. During the 90s the choir no longer belonged to the school and became a choir for both new and old student to join and sing. At this time it was an all girls choir. 2001 tenors and basses was invited to join the ensemble creating the current structure of the choir as a mixed choir,  also gaining the name Tyresö Ungdomskör.

in winter 2015 the choir decided to change name to Tyresö Vokalensemble as the members have gotten older during the years. Today the choir consists of around 30 voices in the ages of 17-35.

The choir gives annual concerts in the Tyresö area and several other concerts in the Stockholm area swell as in other places in Sweden such as Gothenburg, Linköping, Vimmerby and Västervik.

Tyresö Vokalensemble have at several occasions participated in Musikaliskas concert series “Unga Musiker”, young musicians, where we have hade the pleasure of singing together with several wonderful youth choirs from the Stockholm area, as well as young instrumentalists. The choir also participated in the celebration of the famous Swedish conductor Eric Ericson.

Since 1997 the choir has been active members of several international contests and festivals in Poland, Germany, the UK, Hungary, Czech Republic, Spain and Italy. The ensemble’s international activity has resulted in several appearances on TV and radio, for example BBC’s live sunday mass in 2007.
